Maintenance Program for a Major Utility's
Aging Nuclear Power Station

One may not necessarily think of involving a marketing communications company to help solve an internal maintenance problem that had the potential to literally shut down a billion dollar operation for a major utility company. But that's what we were challenged to do.
. . . We did some serious introspection, to evaluate whether we were indeed up to the task; heretofore we had not had previous direct experience in this field. After careful evaluation and extensive research, we decided that we were appropriate candidates to develop and enact this program.
. . . The NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) scrupulously monitors all nuclear plants in the United States, and requires them to operate under a strict set of rules with regard to their operations and maintenance. The company had twice before developed maintenance programs internally; the first took fourteen months, and the second took two years. In neither case were they effective.
. . . We were given FOUR WEEKS to conceptualize, develop, and enact the program... literally from scratch We did it in SIX... and made it effective!
. . . We were also involved in training the maintenance staff, and in having them 'buy into' the program, which was also successfully accomplished.
